HISTORY MADE AT 147TH NEW YEAR SPRINT
Jazmine Tomlinson of TLJT makes history to become the first ever female winner of the famous New Year Sprint. Odds on favourite Ryan Houten leads blanket finish for 2nd place. In one of the closest finishes in the history of the race Tomlinson who could have been bet at 7/1 before the x-ties won by .03 of a second with only .04 of a second between the next four finishers.

It's reckoned the athletics fraternity helped boost the crowd to a record 5,400 for a New Years Day meeting.
