THE Rev. DR STUART D. B. PICKEN - OBITUARY

The Rev. Dr Stuart D. B. Picken who founded the Tokyo Highland Games in 1982 has died of cancer in Dunblane at the age of 74. He was a philosopher, academic and cleric and was also the founding Chairman of the Japan Society of Scotland. On returning to Scotland with his family after some thirty years in Japan he was appointed minister of Blackford and Ardoch Parish Church for ten years until his demission in 2014 due to ill health. He took a great interest in Highland Games and his early initiative resulted in memorable trips to Japan for many of our athletes, dancers and Pipers. He was greatly honoured to be Chieftain at Blackford and be invited to take part in the March at the Lonach Gathering.
