Charlie all set for Stawell Challenge.


Scotland and the Scottish Highland Games circuit is all set to be represented in Australia this weekend with Lasswade AC's Charlie Carstairs entered to contest events on all three days of the prestigious Stawell Gift meeting at Central Park.

Carstairs enjoyed a successful second half of the SHGA season in 2018 with 5 wins, doubles were recorded in both the 200 metres and 400 metres handicaps at St Andrews and Blairgowrie. The Lasswade mans most significant win however came at the Strathallan Meeting at Bridge of Allan, the 400 metres there is always one of the most competitive on the circuit and Carstairs turned in a classy run to come through a big field to win in 47.92 from the 32 metres mark.

The Stawell Athletics Club Bill McManus  Backmarkers 400 metres at Stawell appears to be his best chance of getting among the prizes over the Easter Weekend, at the recent Ringwood meeting he finished runner up running  46.54 from the 30 metres mark, he will start from a similar mark for the race which gets underway at 1.02pm on Monday and is included in the part of the meeting which is covered by live televisio.

Charlie is also entered in the Visit Grampian Stawell Gift 120 mts handicap [Sat 1.22pm] and will start from the 9 metres mark if taking part.On the Sunday he has been alloted 16 metres in the Stawell Athletic Club Jack Donaldson 200 metres Handicap[4.15pm].

Scot John Hilditch who now resides Down Under is also preparing to contest three events. On Saturday he goes from the 13.5 metres mark in the Gift Hotel Arthur Postle 70 mtres Handicap.[10.58am]. On Sunday he is down to run in the Serton & Co Masters 300m[2.12pm] where he will start from 39 metres and on Monday he will react to the starters gun from the 13.75 metres line for the Hank Neil Masters 100 metres Handicap[3.22pm].
