RIDER RULES AT ROSNEATH writes Shane Fenton
Fresh from his World Championship win the previous day at Loch Lomond, Scott Rider was again the man in form at the Rosneath Peninsula Highland Games.
The Englishman who is one of the top ranked shotputters in GB won four of the seven events, the 16lb and 22lb shot putts, the 28lb for distance and the Caber.
Lorne Colthart did the 16lb and 22lb hammer double with Bruce Robb triumphing in the 56lb for height.
On the track Border veteran Bruce Scott took the 90 metres title in 9.77 seconds, Laura McCracken, East Kilbride AC held off her club mate Arlene Barr to win the 200 metres in 23.90.
There was a dead heat for 1st place in the 400 metres handicap between Ewan Dyer, Pitreavie AC and Callum McWilliams, Newton Mearns in a time of 52.50 seconds.
At one time all dead heats had to be run off!
Colin Welsh made the journey up from Kelso a profitable on by landing the 800 metres 1600 metres double.
