Games season marches on

GAMES SEASON MARCHES ON

preview by Shane Fenton.

The curtain may have come down on the Fife Highland Games season for 2014 last weekend at Inverkeithing, but it is by no means the end of the action on the SHGA circuit.

Plenty of races have still to be run, weights to be thrown, jigs to be danced and tunes to be piped before the season ends next month.

The focus over the next six weeks or so now switches to Perthshire and further a field.

It all kicks off tomorrow Sat[9th Aug] with games scheduled to take place at North Berwick and Strathpeffer as well as the Atholl & Breadalbane Gathering at Aberfeldy.

Perth Games get the stage all to themselves on Sunday. A full programme of events is scheduled and an exciting day of competition is in prospect so hopefully the remnants of Hurricane Bertha which is forecast to hit GB on Sunday will drift well away from the North Inch.

The following weekends Games at Stirling[16th] and Crieff[17th] will be previewed next week.

However athletes intending to compete at either, or both of these meetings should note entries close this Sunday[10th].
