149TH NEW YEAR SPRINT[Entry Details]


Entry forms are now available for the 149th 'New Year Sprint' 110 metres Powderhall Handicap and supporting events. All heats of the New Year Sprint will be run at Meadowmill Sports Centre, Prestonpans, East Lothian on Saturday 30th December with the semi finals and final at Musselburgh Racecourse on 1st January 2018.

This years supporting events are an Open 90 metres handicap and an Open 800 metres handicap. The 90 metres will once again incorporate a veterans and ladies final.

The Youth's are also well catered for with a 90 metres, 800 metres and 200 metres, all handicaps, the latter will be split into two age groups 9 - under-13 years and 13 to under-16 years.
All supporting events will be run on Saturday 30th December.

Thoughts are already turning to next years event which will be a landmark occasion, with the 150th running of the historic race set to take place.
Promoter Frank Hanlon has said he would like to see the prize money for the 110 metres doubled which would certainly make it a worthy prize for the century and a half commemoration of the event.This would see the athletes compete for an £8000 first prize.
