Helensburgh Highland Games which takes place tomorrow [Saturday 1st June] is all set to stage the first SHGA running championships of the new season.

The Games which are held at the Rugby Grounds ,Ardencaple host the SHGA British 90m Championship as well as the Scottish 200m Championship.

The races look set to be well contested with athletes who won SHGA titles in 2018 set to go to their marks. Double New Year Sprint winner Greg Kelly will defend the 90m title and he will be joined by Douglas Young, Kelso who was runner up at New Year and also took the Scottish 90m title at Perth last year.Alan Hamilton who took the Scottish 80m title at Loch Lomond in 2018 is also declared.

There is a record entry for the Youth running events with big entries from the clubs from the area.
The games also stage the Scottish 22lb shot putt Championship which was won last year by Vlad Tulacek, Czech Republic who was the overall winner at Blackford last Saturday.

Also taking place tomorrow is the Cornhill Highland Games at Banff, it is a venue for the Grampian Association Heavy, Events, Light Field and Tug o War Championship.  In the running events, Fraser McDonald, Dingwall who won the 90m handicap at Blackford will defend his title at Cornhill over the same distance as will Ewen Bradley ,Inverness in the 400m and 800m.The Games also stage a 3.5 miles road race.
